Hello friends,

Welcome again to Superfood Evolution! A big thank you to all my Superfoods-for-Superhealth site visitors for your attention and support! Here we go with my monthly newsletter #14. Many of you expressed great interest in learning more about superfoods, superhealth and achieving optimal states of aliveness! So, here it is by popular demand! It is my intent to uplift and empower your true health potential to create the best life ever for you and your family.

"You are what you eat" is the first rule of thumb here, the rest just falls into place!


Finding The Perfect Diet!

Many people today are searching for the perfect diet. Some experts say the natural diet for the human body is raw vegan, some say vegetarian, some say you need a meat-based diet, and still others say fruit only. But is there really such a thing as the "perfect diet"?

Well, the conclusion we have come to is... yes and no. No, there is no one diet that can universally meet all the needs and requirements for every individual on planet earth. There are so many different factors to consider such as: body type, environment, current level of health (emotion, physical, spiritual), and amount of energy expending daily. But, we feel that, YES, there is a perfect diet "specific" for each individual in conjunction with a framework of dietary guidelines to follow if superhealth is your goal.

Some obvious guidelines include:

  • eliminate processed foods, refined foods and packaged foods
  • eat more whole foods and raw foods
  • consume the foods that give YOU the most energy (either sugar, fat, or protein sources)
  • listen to your body wisdom, in addition to logical thought
  • eat according to what your body needs in the climate you live in

The Perfect Diet For Today

When we talk about "superfood nutrition", we are talking about specific superfood groups that can be an adjunct to your own personal fuel requirements. We consider these essential for creating and maintaining "the perfect diet" for YOU to FEEL YOUR BEST and live a happy long life. The groups we discuss in our website, basically include:

  1. Polysaccharides
  2. Adaptogens
  3. Anti-oxidants
  4. Chlorophyll detoxifiers
  5. Mineral and enzyme-rich foods
  6. Fermented foods
  7. Superfood supplements

Cultures around the world have tapped into the secrets of these foods. It is our belief that incorporating these superfood nutrients into one's dietary lifestyle is the WAY TO GO for the modern age as humans grow, evolve and live longer than ever before. Hence the word Superfood Evolution! I truly feel that these foods can help make up the perfect diet as change continues to occur on planet earth and the advancement of our species becomes higher than ever before!


Superfoods On A Budget!

Some people when they hear about superfoods, think about how much more money it will cost them to purchase more expensive additions or replacements to their current diet. This is not always the case however. Many superfoods are actually better if you make them, grow them or harvest them yourself. Some tropical or Asian superfoods can be a bit pricey, but there are ways to cut costs so you can add these top superfoods to your monthly budget.

Three important things to consider:

1) In actuality, you save on your overall monthly expenses because you spend less by making or harvesting your own superfoods (ie: fermented foods, wild foods, sprouts, seaweeds, etc) which balances out spending more on pricer items.

2) The one thing to remember about the top superfoods is that they also have greater effects and potency on your health in BIG ways. Yes, carrots are cheap, but goji berries have many times more the Vit A, for example, so the added cost gives you more "bang for your buck".

3) Keep in mind that this is for your health, you won’t be getting sick as often and you won’t have doctor’s bills to deal with. That is a significant savings right there!

Regardless, if you are on a budget, for whatever reason, there are a few things you can do to cut costs.

Tips And Ideas When On A Budget:

  • Buy superfoods in bulk. Bulk prices are way cheaper. For bulk herbs go to Mountain Rose Herbs, they are one of the best!
  • Buy your Chinese herbs in Asian markets at discounted prices.
  • Buy produce that is in season and usually less expensive. Look into buying from local organic farmers in your area some even might do some kind of trade for produce. Never out rule a barter, this is how it was done before paper money existed!
  • Keep track of all purchases – write them down so you know what you are spending on what. This will help you the following month to re-evaluate if needed.
  • Perhaps their is one particular superfood or supplement that would be of great benefit to you right now. For example, for $50/mo you can buy 2 bottles of medicinal mushrooms or maybe you might want a B12 supplement or Vitamineral green powder.
  • You may need to hold off on spending huge amounts on more expensive supplements for now, but sometimes if you budget right you can fit in a bottle here and there.
  • As you continue to reach more clarity by changing your diet for the better, read inspiring books like: A Happy Pocket Full of Money, by David Cameron Gikandi. This is one of my favorites. Work with what you’ve got here and now! As your health continues to improve on the inside you also have the opportunity to expand and align with new and better changes in your external life and bank account.

This is a beautiful book by Philip, great easy to follow recipes that can fit into a face paced lifestyle....hence the word "fast food" in the title. Most all the recipes have full color photos. I always feel inspired to see the end result of recipes, so I really appreciate that aspect of this ebook. Most recipes take under 20 minutes and are so packed with flavor that you won't even miss your cooked food favorites.

Recipe of the Month:

Miso Cabbage Salad

Cabbage is a lovely vegetable that makes for great salad making! When combined with our homemade garbanzo bean miso dressing it is quite outstanding as a meal all by itself. Of course you can mix and match the veggies ingredients as you like, but this combo it one of my favorites. I am a cilantro lover, so I kinda go crazy on that part.

This is a nice salad to make ahead of time and allow to marinate overnight or for a few hours. It is great for any kind of potluck scene because it gets better as it sits for awhile. In addition this spicy, fibrous raw salad helps to move things through the body and gives you energy without weighing you down.

The Salad:

  • 1 med green cabbage
  • 1/4 napa cabbage
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 bunch green onion
  • 4 med carrots
  • 1 small red onion
  • dulse flakes or pieces

Chop, dice and slice anyway you like. I prefer thinly sliced cabbage pieces.

The Dressing:

  • 1/8C miso paste
  • 1-2 clove pressed garlic
  • 1t chili pepper flakes
  • 1/8c soaked sesame seeds
  • 1/2t stevia power
  • 1T raw honey
  • 4T lime juice
  • 1T lime zest
  • 1/4c olive oil
  • 1t paprika

Prepare the dressing ingredients in a bowl, whisk together enough spring water if needed to provide a nice consistency. Pour over your salad veggies and marinate before serving. Enjoy!
