Blue Green Algae -
Optimal Powerhouse of Nutrition!

Blue green algae or Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA) is an edible fresh water plant that has been called "the invisible flower of the water."

It develops its potent nutrient structure in the wild, pristine, alkaline waters of Klamath Lake, Oregon where it is grown and harvested.

Klamath lake is part of the mineral rich "ring of fire", collecting 50,000 tons of dense silt deposits from the surrounding volcanic landscape basin, making it one of the most nutrient thick waters in the world.

Blue Green Algae Health Benefits

Blue green algae has a full array of phytonutrients. With concentrated sunlight energy, algaes are known to carry "every nutrient required by the human body."

In research conducted, studying the effects of this algae on human health, astonishing results were revealed by a team of medical scientists that were documented in the book, Primordial Food, by Dr. C Drapeau.

It was determined that blue-green algae is a complete superfood packed with nutrition that includes carotenoids, chlorophyll, polyunsaturated fatty acids, DHA, omega fatty acids, phospholipid choline, B vitamins and maintains a unique profile of health promoting molecules that provide superior brain function.

Brain and Mental Function!

High levels of a compound called phenylethylamine (PEA) are present in blue green algae. Commonly referred to as the "molecule of love", also found in raw chocolate to a much lesser degree. This molecule enhances mood, balances depression and provides mental clarity and alertness.

Blue-green foods are healing foods for the heart. As we evolve to become more heart centered, we believe "following our heart" is the way of the superhero lifestyle and the attainment for oneness with all of life!

Using the top superfood algaes, such as blue-green, increase our joy naturally, without the use of stimulants that cause irritation and deplete the body over time. Blue-green algae is here for all to function at higher levels of mental acuity and clear, focused alignment with our higher being!

Immune System Health!

Phycocyanin is a light absorbing stable protein that contains the blue pigment in blue-green algae. It carries strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties promoting a healthy strong immune system.

Blue-green algae also has dramatically positive effects on NK cell activity, just a few hours after consuming it. In addition, studies have revealed that the phycocyanin in the algae activates the migration of stem cells from the bone marrow into the brain and blood.

Other Immune System Benefits:

  • stimulates white blood cells
  • prevents inflammation
  • increases nerve health
  • improves overall mood
  • inhibits COX-2
  • provides omega fatty acids and DHA
  • treats various viral conditions

Blue-Green Algae VS Spirulina

  1. Contains up to five times the Vit C levels
  2. Contains two times more of the blue-green pigment and antioxidant, phycocyanin
  3. Is a wild food growing in its natural wild habitat
  4. Contains more essential fatty acids being a cold water algae
  5. Contains "soft" proteins and polysaccharides
  6. Contains more than half the amount of chlorophyll

Spirulina definitely has its benefits as a high protein, high iron algae with numerous other health promoting attributes. (See our spirulina page for more info.)

How to Use:

Blue-green algae comes in powder, flakes or capsules. My favorite way to use it is very simple. I stir 1-2T into a glass of spring water, this way I can also enjoy the amazing blue green color it creates. It is like drinking some kind of magic potion!

You can also use this glistening green food in smoothies green energy drinks, shakes and raw desserts.
