Raw Food Diet Plan

Designing Your Raw Food Health!

A raw food diet plan can be a great way for anyone, eating any kind of diet, to start feeling more energy and aliveness. For some, this could mean adding 80% more raw food to their current diet, 20%, 100% or anything in between.

Whether you want to start with the raw vegan diet, or slowly incorporate more raw foods into your current regime, it is all possible.

If you are attracted to eating more "raw", but unsure where in the world to start, we have a few helpful things for you to think about.

Four Basic Raw Food Diet Plan Rules:

1) Be Realistic- A good raw diet plan is a "plan" you know you can maintain easily with your needs and lifestyle. If you are living a busy life with a hectic schedule, think about practical ways you can eat more raw foods. Prepping meals the night before is sometimes a good idea. Maybe the help of a raw food cookbook might support and motivate your commitment.

2) Make It Enjoyable - Having fun with your food is important. Create great meals and snacks you totally love to eat! Some people love to make wonderful cuisine in the kitchen and some people don't. You can go "raw gourmet", making all sorts of yummy dehydrated foods, or just keep it simple. Many people enjoy adding all the delicious top superfoods to their diet right away. Using cacao is also a lovely way to enjoy some raw dessert recipes.

3) Keep It Simple - Start with easy, basic recipes that meet the above criteria. All you really need is a knife, a chopping board and lots of delicious fruits and veggies. Try making different salad combination's, adding a handful of your favorite nuts. Or as a salad alternative, you can blend up your veggies in a blender with a bit of miso for a raw soup.

4) Provide Balance - Getting the most out of your raw food diet plan means getting the most nutrition out of your raw food. Eating a balance from the various raw food groups is a good idea. Most people, when they start eating and making raw food diet recipes, eat way too many nuts and seeds. This is ok for awhile and might be a necessary part of making the transition easier.

Other Things to Consider:

  • Unique body type
  • Specific health issues
  • Raw food pyramid

Unique Body Types:

We all have our individual body size and shape that has specific needs and requirements in order to stay fit and balanced. In the science of Ayurveda there are 3 main body types. Certain foods provide optimal health for certain body "doshas".

These Ayurvedic rules can also be applied to a raw food diet plan. For example, someone who is thin and petite might eat more nuts and seeds than someone who is larger framed and heavyset. So, getting to know your body and eating the right foods for "your type" is part of the puzzle.

Specific Health Issues:

Another thing to consider is your current state of health. Are you having any health issues that need addressing? Do you have problems like candida overgrowth or weight issues? Whatever your health concerns, eating more raw food will most likely help. However, there may be specific guidelines to follow depending your concerns.

For Candida you would eat less sugar and more alkaline foods, avoiding nuts and other acid foods. Most people who want to lose weight are very successful eating a raw vegan diet that promotes rapid weight loss, but feeds your body great, living nutrients.

What Is The Raw Food Pyramid?

The raw food pyramid is a simple guide to follow when first starting a raw food diet program. It is a bit different than the standard food pyramid many of us are use to, incorporating the different classes of raw foods and superfoods.

It includes the percentages of vegetables, greens, fruit, nuts/seeds and other superfoods that could make up your daily meals. But, these percents will, of course, vary depending on your own specific needs and body type.

Super fruits are included in the "fruits" section and medicinal mushrooms are at the top in the "herbs" section. Good fats like oils and avocado are up near the nuts and seeds level. It is designed to be a reference guide, but should be adjusted to individual needs.

Choose a raw food diet plan that takes into account all the above factors. In this way you will provide the best possible transition to enjoying the benefits and incredible tastes of more living foods in your life!
